Full Description: The Great Western Railways first established a motor bus service from Slough railway station on 1st March 1904. The service offered two routes: one via Salt Hill and Farnham Royal to Beaconsfield, the other via Stoke Poges to the "One Pin" for Hedgerley, with a single trip daily extending to Beaconsfield. In 1980, GWR started a popular service to Burnham Beeches. Competition arrived in 1912 when the London General Omnibus Company started running buses to local attractions, including Burnham Beeches. Both GWR and LGOC used Wingroves Tea Gardens as the Beeches terminus. Many bus services, including those to Burnham Beeches, ceased with the outbreak of the 1st World War. Burnham Beeches was, however, to remain a popular public transport destination for many years, with specific sevices terminating at Wingroves right up to 1952.
