Full Description: Copy of a photograph looking south-west across the mill pond. The mill was probably constructed in the mid 18th century and continued working until the end of the 19th century. By the first World War it was being used as a residence. By 1932 it was purchased by Flora Twort, a Hampstead artist, who lived there for many years. Its best known visitor was the author Nevil Shute who stayed there many times during the Second World War. We also have another mill here, a watermill, which was in the building on the right.
