Full Description: These quarters were built on the site of Waterloo Barracks lying between Ordnance Road and Gun Hill. The estate roads were named after battles of World War II: Alamein Road, Falaise Close; Cassino Close, Mareth Close, Arnhem Close, Kohima Close and Imjin Close. Gun Hill leads up to Mandora Barracks and beyond the old squares of married quarters. The Cambridge Military Hospital and the Louise Margaret Hospital are in the centre of the picture. Beyond Gun Hill is the newly cleared site for the building of Talavera Park, more married quarters. In the background is Queens Avenue straddling the Army playing fields and the demolition area of the Camp.
