Full Description: Princes Gardens stand on the upper portion of the site where the original huts were erected in 1854 for the accommodation of the first Engineer Staff responsible for the construction of "The Camp". The area was purchased from the War Department by Aldershot Borough Council in 1930 for £16,500, and was known previously as the "R.E. Yard" with the "R.E.D (Royal Engineer Department) Huts". Talavera Barracks are beyond Wellington Avenue and on the horizon is the clock tower of the Cambridge Military Hospital.
