Full Description: The Royal Artillery Band were part of the first contingent of four detachments of troops and were followed by a wheeled contingent. The first contingent lead by a mounted section of the Royal Military Police comprised The Royal Engineers Staff Band, the Mons Officer Cadet School and the 3rd, 4th and 9th Training Regiments Royal Engineers. Many of the troops were National Servicemen. It was the largest number of troops ever to march through the town. The salute is being taken by Major General A.D. Campbell, GOC Aldershot District and the Mayor Of Aldershot Alderman F.S. Stay. They are standing on the saluting base in front of the Municipal Gardens, next to the Town Hall in Grosvenor Road. |
