Full Description: The Women's Army Auxiliary Corps (W.A.A.C.) later retitled Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps (Q.M.A.A.C.) are marching past King George V and Queen Mary on the Queens Parade. The WAAC were stationed at The Siege Training Centre, R.G.A., Martinique Barracks at nearby Bordon.
The WAAC was founded in March 1917 to replace men in non-combatant roles and so release men for fighting. The WAAC was renamed as Queen Mary's Army Auxiliary Corps in April 1918. This parade may be to celebrate their renaming. |
