Full Description: King Carol had been driven over from the RAF station at Odiham. He was greeted by Lieut-Gen Sir John Dill, the GOC in charge. After inspecting the guard of honour he was driven over to the Long Valley to watch a display of mechanized units, including a demonstration by a Carrier Platoon of the 1st Battalion of the Gordon Highlanders. He then took the salute at a drive past of the 12th Royal Lancers in their armoured cars, the tractor-drawn 13th Anti-Tank and 4th Medium Regiments, R.A., the 2nd and 4th Battalions of the Royal Tank Corps, the 6th Anti-Aircraft Regiment R.A. and the Mobile Searchlights of the 1st A.A. Battalion R.E. |
