Full Description: View of the school from the Alton side looking down Anstey Road towards Holybourne. The school was founded in 1641under a trust deed set up by John Eggar of Crondall who wished to establish a Free School. Charles I signed the school charter and it opened in 1642. It was renamed Eggars Grammar School in 1879 and until 1911, was only open to boys. In 1968 the school moved to its new site in Holybourne and this building was used for some classes for some years after. It has since been sold for redevelopment. Copy photograph of a photograph.
