Full Description: From about 1875, C J Newbury's became an important builder and was responsible for most of the building work in the Warsash, Hook and Locks Heath area. Much of the wood used came from the Hook Park estate. At one stage, the firm employed about a hundred men. The sign on the wall reads C J Newbury, Building Contractor, Wheelwright, Undertaker, Decorator. Estimates given. Reference: 1. Palmer, Oonagh. 1998. Around Fareham, p. 72.
