Full Description: Situated in an out of the way position between Warsash and the Hook estate, the church was constructed of Swanage stone The foundation stone was laid in 1870 and forms the plinth at the east end of the church, On it are the letters G R in lead. The stone was laid by Thomas Robinson, brother in law to Arthur Hornby, who built the church and endowed it. In the northeast side of the church is a stained glass window to the memory of Thomas Robinson and a brass in memory of Thomas Boyes, the first sexton who held the office for twenty years and was also church warden. The church was opened in 1871 and called St Mary's. In 1872 the ecclesiastical parish was called Hook-with-Warsash.
More attractive inside, there are angels on the wooden roof of the nave, a wooden vault in the chancel and elaborately carved stone capitals in the chancel too. The stained glass in the east window looks Victorian but dates from 1950. Hung up in the south aisle is a model of HMS Hotspur, the largest ship ever built at Warsash. It took three years to build and was completed in 1820. The modern model was given to the church in 1975.
A fine vicarage was built near the church and the first vicar was John Gamon. A stone wall encircles the church and graveyard, which is reached by a fine oak lychgate.
