Brief Description: Church of England School, Shedfield, 1973.
Subject Date: August 1973

Full Description: Shedfield is a mostly Victorian village situated between two main roads which skirt the vast triangular green. Although it had a small church from 1829 the settlement was tiny into Victorian times and did not become a parish until 1894. The older houses and cottages are around the crossroads at the Winchester Road, but the Victorian school, church and more of the village are down the side road and spread out. The common is large and rough with grassy areas, scrub and trees. References: 1. Draper, Jo. 1990. Hampshire The complete guide, p. 157. 2. Hampshire Federation of Women's Institutes. 1990.
