Full Description: South Railway Jetty inside Portsmouth Dockyard was built in 1888 as a station for the Royal family. The construction allowed for the royal train to stop alongside the Royal Yacht berthed at the jetty to allow the royal passengers to transfer from one to another without the need to travel further.
This original photograph shows the Prince of Wales inspecting the guard on his return from a visit to India. |
