Full Description: The Eton Rural Council Offices were originally two detached Victorian houses known as Abbeyfield and Denmark House. The two houses together with two on the adjoining land were originally constructed in the 19th century by a Mr. Nixey. The garden of Denmark House originally had a pond that was used to wash down coach horses before it was incorporated into the garden. Denmark House had also been used before 1954 as offices for the Slough Conservative Association. In 1954 the two houses were joined together by the construction of five additional bays to make offices for the Eton Rural District Council. The buildings were then used by Eton Rural's successors, the Beaconsfield District Council and the South Bucks District Council. In around 2004 South Bucks District Council moved its offices to Denham and the Slough offices were demolished to make way for a housing development.
