Full Description: This was taken looking north towards the crossroads. Note: the Blue Anchor pub, the second building from the right, has just been altered and the frontage, which originally stuck out in the road is new. The road had recently been widened by the Local Board .This pub was also called The Anchor.
From the Southsea Observer 20th June 1890 "Mr. Gillet of the Blue Anchor was paid £60 for setting back his public house in South street Havant". The original pub frontage can be seen in the picture HS 541.
