Full Description: A substantial, thatched fishing-box on the western bank of the River Avon. It appears on Milne's map of 1791 (described as owned by Drummond, Esq), on Greenwoods' map of 1826 and is listed in Cary's New Itinerary, Hampshire of 1815 (owned by the Earl of Malmesbury). It is described as a fishing-box, owned by the Earl of Malmesbury, by Peter Hall, in 'A few topographical remarks, relative to the parishes of Ringwood, Ellingham, Ibbesley, Harbridge, and Fordingbridge, 1831, p. 9.
The building lay to the south of the town of Ringwood and about four miles north of Hurn Court.
Also shown are two men fishing from what looks like a punt. |
