| Full Description: A scene during the restoration of the church by Sir Arthur Blomfield, 1897-8. Most of the money for this came from H H Walford of Arle Bury House.
The medieval church had been badly damaged by fire in 1689, when only the tower and outer walls of the nave escaped. Over time, the roof and pillars of the rebuilt church gradually decayed, leaving the only course of action in the 1890s to remove the seventeenth century work and build a new church, utilizing the old walls and tower. From the designs of Sir Arthur Blomfield, a church in the Perpendicular style was built. To Nikolaus Pevsner, "it is alas a disappointing church".
The west tower is early fourteenth century, with a seventeenth-century brick top. The church itself is of flint.
