Nearest to us is the Stella Memorial, then the Mayflower Monument, with the cannon of the saluting battery facing harmlessly out to sea. The clubhouse of the Royal Southampton Yacht Club, built 1846 by T S Hack, and, on the right, the entrance to the Royal Pier lie beyond.
