North, C C. will read the Script containing the resolution conferring the Freedom of the Borough on Mr. D: LLEWELLYN GRIFFITHS, O.B.E., Town Clerk. His Worzhip the Mayor will make the formal presentation of the Script and Silver Salver to the Town Clerk. The new Freeman will sign the Roll. Reply by the Town Clerk. Sporting Events. DISPLAY by the AIRBORNE ESTABLISHMENTS by kind permission of the OfFicer Commanding (Brigadier C. V. H. Pritchard, D.S.O.) 1. Drill Display by Parachute trainees of the Parachute Regiment Training Centre. 2. Demonstration of the Battle Equipment of a Parachute Rifle Platoon by the Parachute Regiment Training and Holding Battalion. Motor Cycle Gymkhana by the NORTH HANTS & ALDERSHOT MOTOR CYCLE CLUBS Event 1. OBSTACLE RACE Competitors will negotiate the following obstacles placed round the track, crawl under net, climb through tyres, ride in and out of sticks, bite piece out of bun with- out the use of hands and whilst astride their machine, jump into sack and complete one lap of the track. Event 2. SURF RACING Competitors must complete two laps ofthe course. Drivers must pick up their pas- sengers where fallen. Passengers must stand on the board, sitting down not allowed. Event 3. COW PUNCHING The Cow will be let loose in the arena. Two punchers will be sent in to catch her within two minutes. Master Graham Archer will entertain on his Super-charged Motor Cycle. 8. DANCING on the GREEN at approximately 8.30 p.m. 9. FIREWORKS at 10.45 p.m. The BAND of the ROYAL HAMPSHIRE REGT. by kind permission of the Oficer Commanding (Colonel J. M. Lee) will take part and the Dance Band of the same Regiment will play for the dancing. Upon this twenty-fifth ansiversary of the Grant of a Charter of Incorporation to the and in recognition of your Eminent Services to the Borough as its Town Clerk during the whole of that period (and for six years previously as Clerk of the Urban District Council) the Corporation takes pride and pleasure in conferring upon you the Freedom of tie whose interests it has always been your endeavour to preserve and enlarge. Your services to the Town, both official and voluntary, during the critical years of two World Wars will long be gratefully remembered ; as will your contribution in the sphere of education ; while in the fields of sport, drama, and the arts, among the ex-servicemen, and not least in the varied activities of Youth, your initiative energy and leadership have earned for you the most affectionate regard of the townspeople of all ages. At a Meeting of the Borough Council held on 7th May, 1947. the following Resolution was passed unanimously : "That the Freedom of the Borough of Aldershot be conferred upon Mr. D. Llewellyn Griffiths, O.B.E., Town Clerk, in appreciation of the eminent services rendered by him to the Borough of Aldershot since his appointment as Clerk to the Urban District Council in 1916 and as Town Clerk since the year 1922."
